Waking Up Early vs Waking Up Late

Waking up early has it's benefits. While everyone else is still sleeping I have some free time to relax and read on the web. Seems strange because a year ago I would fall asleep around the same time I now wake up each day. Waking up late feels like I miss a big part of the day. Not sure what changed, must be age. Also too, years ago I could easily pull an all-nighter with no problem. I can't do that anymore. But, on the same token, I don't need much sleep. I seem to function fine with 5 hours.

End of Summer Lawn Mower Sales

Just about every year around the end of summer I purchase a new push lawn mower. For the past few years I have considered push mowers as a disposable objec simply because they are all made crappy now a days. I remember years ago when I was a kid lawn mowers were made much better.

A lawn mower could be left outside in the rain and the next day fire right up. It could even be left out all winter, get snowed on multiple times and fire right up with bad gas in spring. But times have changed. Lawn mowers are now crap and that's why I buy the cheapest push mower each year and use it until it dies. I do the same thing with printers by the way.

At the end of every summer is when I purchase a new push mower. This is when most all places run end of summer lawn mower clearance sales. Most all places like Lowes, Home Depot and even Walmart drop the prices on lawn mowers in order to quickly sell them to make room for winter items and products. I usually by the cheapest ones around $99 dollars. If I get one good year out of it, then it paid for itself. And ironically I usually can then sell the used and broken mower for about $20 dollars.

Debianvsubuntu.com

Awhile back I wrote a post on one of my blogs titled, "Debian vs Ubuntu" and quickly afterward it started getting quite a bit of traffic. Shortly after I decided to stem my blog article content into a full website. I registered the domain debianvsubuntu.com and exported the existing WordPress comments from MySQL and ported them all into a new database to use with the new website.

The site design was kinda crappy, so today I decided to redesign it. The new design is a very clean, simple and practical format. I am sure some people will still think it looks crappy. But that's okay! Also still in the works: I am restructuring the back-end, and also once again I am porting the existing data that was once originally WordPress comment data, into yet another database. But also too this new back-end allows users to be able to add their own pages to the site. Here's a screen shot of the site below:

Screenshot of debianvsubuntu.com

The add a page feature is LIVE. People can publish their own pages on the site and share useful information such as advice, news, tips or tricks stemming around Debian or Ubuntu. There will be more features added soon and I will be sure to post about updates. In the mean time be sure to check out the website and reply back in the comments with your feedback and thoughts.

DealRankers.com

I just launched a new website called Deal Rankers. It is - or hopefully will become - a community based website a where people vote on the top ranking deals online and find new ones and share them with other community members. For the time being I am the only registered user.

You're welcome to join and start submitting new deals into the system. For Affiliate marketers and Internet marketers this will be a great way to spread your affiliate links - but keep in mind, I will be keeping a close eye on things. I do expect excellent quality and links to literally the best deals available. If you find an amazing deal that you want to share it with others, and if there's an affiliate link that can be attached to the URL, for sure you should be rewarded by claiming the deal with your affiliate link attached to it.

Screenshot of DealRankers.com

DealRankers.com is a great way for buyers to quickly find the best deals on items that interest them and a great way for people like me - affiliate marketers - to earn some extra cash. I'll be sure to post updates with the development and growth of the new site. Also if anyone is interested in landing some free advertising space on the website feel free to contact me.

PetSmart Halloween Sales

There's a common myth that parenting and raising kids is expensive. That may be true; however, in my opinion having cats and dogs can be equally, if not more, expensive. Pets need everything that people need; the difference is that it seems like the costs for meeting the needs of pets is greater than that for people.

PetSmart is a great example. I shop there often and find it entertaining to see the different types of products being sold and how much they cost. For example, let's take a cardboard tube, spin some rope around it and then attach it to a plywood base. Then let's slap a $50 dollar price tag on it and sell it to people who own cats.

Often I thought about making my own pet products and selling them online. The materials needed to make a basic cat scratching post probably costs around $2 dollars. Once again, even the most basic models sell for around $25.

Any way, if you're not going to entertain the idea of making your own pet products then you'll continue to be forced to shop for them. PetSmart, in my opinion, and while also being expensive, seems to be one of the best places to shop for pets. The great news is that more often than not, they usually have a sales promotion running.

PetSmart Halloween Sales Event:

And right now the current promotion is their PetSmart Halloween sales event. During this sale PetSmart has discounted down most of the pet products they sell. If you're a pet owner, it's definitely worth checking out.

Sears Columbus Day Sales

Ever since I could remember, even as a kid, I have regarded Sears as the best place to buy tools. The craftsman brand of tools was legendary in my family when I was a child. I'll never forget the biggest selling feature, "The Lifetime Guarantee" my father quoted almost daily. It's true though I saw him return broken sockets, screw drivers and many other tools. He walked right up to the counter and set the broken item down and the cashier would pull a replacement from the shelf and hand it to him.

The downside to shopping at Sears is their prices - Sears is expensive! But, the old saying about getting what you pay for usually stands true with the items sold at Sears. So if you want junk, they pay for junk. If you want quality, well you're going to have to pay for it. However, there are times during the year when you don't have to pay full price for items sold at Sears. Often, especially during the holiday, they usually run a sale.

Sears Columbus Day Sales

Right now they are running the Sears Columbus Day sales event. During this promotion you can save money, between 5% to 50% off on many of the items they sell. Items such as lawn mowers, treadmills, clothing, digital cameras and camcorders, gps systems and mp3 players, shoes and boots, and of course - power tools!

During the Sears Columbus Day sales promotion you can also expect to see huge discounts on appliances. In fact, up to 25% OFF.

Sears Columbus Day Appliance Sale

That's a significant savings, especially when it's on a item that can cost a few hundred dollars or more! So what ever it is that you're looking to purchase, be sure to check and see if Sears offers it first. During their sale it's very possible that the item could be cheaper.

Columbus Day Nintendo Wii Deals

If you are shopping around for a new Nintendo Wii, don't settle for paying the price that's posted on the sticker. Unless you really want to, why pay full price for something that you can find cheaper. With Columbus Day weekend coming up you better bet your bottom dollar that there will be Columbus Day Nintendo Wii deals and promotions available.

In fact, if you look right now, you will discover that most all retailers are offering a Columbus Day sales on Nintendo Wii. So far with the places I have researched, the best place to purchase a Nintendo Wii cheap is Amazon.com. They have Nintendo Wii's starting just at $115 dollars! That is practically 50% off the regular price.

Columbus Day Nintendo Wii Deals

So once again, why pay full price for a Nintendo Wii if you don't have to. My advice to you is to spend less than 10 minutes researching different stores that sell Nintendo Wii's and you will quickly see that the places you assumed offered the best prices actually don't. Also, have no fear purchasing anything from Amazon.com. They offer better service and have better warranties than your local Walmart.

Printable Starbucks Coffee Coupons

I absolutely LOVE Starbucks Coffee; however, I do not enjoy paying the expensive prices. I mean, seriously, how much does someone have to pay to drink great tasting coffee? But, it's true - Starbucks Coffee is probably the best tasting coffee on the planet.

That said, I did figure out a way to save money when purchasing Starbucks Coffee. You might not know this but there are printable Starbucks Coffee coupons floating around on the net. And unlike most coupons these ones are actually worth clipping and using! I have seen buy one get one free coupons, 50% off your purchase coupons and also $5 and $10 dollars off your order coupons.

Here's an example of what one of these coupons look like:

Printable Starbucks Coffee Coupons

If you really enjoy drinking Starbucks Coffee but don't like paying the full price, it's definitely worth your time finding, clipping and using these printable Starbucks coupons. In the long run, assuming you drink as much coffee as I do, it can literally save you hundreds of dollars over the course of time.

Walgreens Printable Coupons

Walgreens is a great place to shop for items that you need in a hurry. If you're like me then you probably dread going inside Walmart. And in my case, Walgreens is much closer. The disadvantage of buying things at Walgreens instead of Walmart is that usually the items sold at Walgreens are a little more expensive than at Walmart.

In the past I didn't care. I felt like it was worth paying more at Walgreens to avoid going inside Walmart. However, I realized that I don't have to be forced to pay more for things at Walgreens. And that's when I decided to start using Walgreens printable coupons. When you print these coupons out and use them at checkout it can put the price of many items below Walmart's cheap prices.

I created a page on my other website that displays many of the popular items sold at Walgreens that you can find printable coupons for. In return this can save you a lot of money while at the same time avoiding having to go inside Walmart.

OfficeMax Columbus Day Sales

OfficeMax is a great place to shop for office supplies, home office furniture, computing equipment and much more. However, one thing that I noticed is that OfficeMax tends to be a little high in price. In my experience that's because they offer high quality products. So the old saying, "you get what you pay for" is true.

If you enjoy shopping at OfficeMax but do not enjoy paying high prices, just about every holiday OfficeMax runs a sale. Columbus Day is just around the corner so if you want to purchase things on sale be sure to check out the OfficeMax Columbus Day sales ads. They will be offering discounted prices on most all of the items they sell.

Testing The SEO Value of Blogger

I released two posts a few minutes ago... no worries, I am not going to be crapping up my blog with random off-topic posts for much longer. I am simply testing a few things on Blogger to determine if its a viable medium for posting content for the partial purpose of content monetization. Over the years I have created about two hundred blogger blogs with URLs and titles that target some pretty decent keywords. Granted, these blogs have been dormant over the last couple of years, but if these few tests I am running here on this blog reveal promising news, I will probably reignite those blogs again. I mean heck, if Google wants to host my blog for free and if it has equal pull and SEO value to WordPress or even something custom crafted and built from scratch, then why not!

Home Depot Labor Day Lawn Mower Sales

My template titles were messed up so my last post got indexed the wrong way so let's try this again. Need a new lawn mower? Every time I visit Home Depot they seem to have a vast selection of lawn mowers available. Another thing I notice is their price. Riding lawn mowers are ridiculously expensive. But with Labor Day just around the corner I am sure that Home Depot will be offering Labor Day sales and discounts on their lawn mowers. I guess we will just have to wait and see. I kind of remember there being a Home Depot Labor Day lawn mower sales last year. Or maybe that was at Lowes?

Dell Back To School Laptop Sales

If you are a student who needs a new laptop and is about to go back to school probably right now would be the best time to purchase one, especially if you are wanting to purchase a new Dell laptop.

Right now, Dell is offering their annual back to school laptop sales promotion again. During this computer sales event, you can save quite a bit of money when you purchase one of their new laptops. You might want to check it out.

On another note, this post is obviously to test the SEO value of blogger, oh and also to see how easy it is to post code snippets. Let's give that a shot and see what happens:

#!/bin/sh

THESITE="yoursite.com"
THEDATE=`date +%m%d%Y%H%M`

tar czf /var/www/$THESITE/backups/sitebackup_${THESITE}_${THEDATE}.tar -C / var/www/$THESITE/public_html
gzip /var/www/$THESITE/backups/sitebackup_${THESITE}_${THEDATE}.tar

find /var/www/$THESITE/backups/site* -mtime +5 -exec rm {} \;
Hopefully that looks good. It's just using the blockquote feature. However, if it displays correctly without me having to adjust css or do any kind of editing to the template, that may entice me to continue posting stuff on this blog. We'll just have to see what happens after I click the publish button.

Anyway, don't forget about the Dell back to school laptop sales. Seems like a pretty good deal to me.

It's Been Awhile Since I Updated This Blog...

Blogger sure has changed a lot over the last couple of years. It's actually pretty cool. Google makes Blogger fairly dummy-proof if you asked me. No offense intended to anyone out there who feels like they are a blog dummy.

Anyway, it's been a couple of years since I have even thoughts about this blog, let alone even considered accessing it. I am real impressed with the simplicity of Blogger -- always have in fact. And today, it seems quite appealing to use. So I may just do that.

In the mean time, anyone still subscribed, sit back and it may be possible that you will see some posts coming from this blog again.
